Springbank 10 Year Scotch

Springbank 10 Year Scotch Whisky

Spirit: Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky; 92 Proof (46% Alcohol) Retail Price: $60

It was supposed to be Spring last week, but its lingering here in the New York Metro area (as it usually does), so I decide to try something that everyone seems to like within my circle whisky friends. At first I was really pleased I spent the money to give it a taste, and its not a bad whiskey, but I am not sure the experience add up to the price of which I paid.

From first sip, you taste the smoke up front, but it is not overpowering. Its a mild, smooth whisky. Its got the pepper, it has the peat and of course the smoke. There is just not much more complexity outside of that. Its good whisky for sure, but for me it is not in the same class (or glass) as Ardbeg at $50 per bottle that is thick, creamy, smokey and delicious.  No regrets here, I just feel its $20 above the retail price it goes for.
