1849  Luther Burbank born. He was an American horticulturist and developed many new varieties of fruits and vegetables.

1885  The state of Kansas bans the driving of Texas cattle across its borders to protect its farmland and stop the spread of disease from Texas cattle known as “Texas Fever”.

1897 Dr. John Kellogg first serves corn flakes to his patients at his hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. They later became commercially available nearly a decade later.
