The Screwdriver is one of the most simple cocktails to prepare. It only has 2 ingredients, 3 if you count the ice, but yet like many, still has variations. The best innovation to this drink is when you add Liquor Galliano and it becomes the iconic Harvey Wallbanger which is one of the better and more memorable cocktails of the 1970s.
Like most drinks, the way to make the very best version of this drink is with fresh squeezed orange juice. Of course if you are in a bar you will typically get pasteurized orange juice from a can, carton or plastic jug, but once you tasted this with fresh squeezed orange juice, you will see why it has stood the test of time for the better part of the century.
HARVEY WALLBANGER RECIPE
- 60ml or 2 ounces vodka
- 30ml or 1 ounce of Liquor Galliano
- 120ml or 4 ounces Orange Juice (I prefer fresh squeezed but any orange juice you buy in a supermarket will do).
Fill A highball glass with ice, add vodka, orange juice, float some Liquor Galliano on top and either sip slowly or stir & serve. This is such a classic and simple cocktail that it does not even require a garnish just like any highball drink. Just enjoy!
