Orphan Barrel Forged Oak Bourbon has a great number of mixed reviews. Personally I am a big fan of Orphan Barrel, its one of the few bourbons where the retail price is actually comparable to the quality and taste of the whiskey. The oak is a bit heavy, but I would not let that take away from the great bourbon it is.
Taste: Smooth, leathery with a lot of oak.
Finish: Peppery and dry, bit of a good, mild burn.
Bottom Line: You either love this or hate it. I have not heard anyone say that its just ok or great but not good, they have solid opinions about it. My opinion is its good, while often over rated, its a great whiskey for the current going price, which, for whiskey these days means you have to spend over $50 for decent bottle. For $75 I know I am getting a great bottle of whiskey with no regrets.
