Fast Food Burgers
I don’t eat a lot of fast food. In fact it is very much a last resort when I have little or no other choices. If I am on the run to a photo or video shoot that I know is going to last more than 10 hours, I will stop and get a breakfast sandwich because it is fast, inexpensive and on the way to where I am going. When it comes to hamburgers, I like mine to be of the best quality. I prefer to cook them on the grill at home.
Many don’t believe me when I say I have not had a McDonald’s hamburger in 5 years or more. I think I ate at Wendy’s about 2 years ago because I was moving from one house to the other and I really needed those solid calories I easily burned off that day. They had a special which really sounded appealing and it was not bad at all. I think Wendy’s has the freshest and best quality meat, plus they have other healthier options than most chains. Other than that, I really don’t crave fast food of any kind.
About once a year I might break down and try something new if I have not had it before, but I am usually disappointed. That was the case today when I went to Sonic to get a bag of their pellet ice for cocktails and decided to try their chili cheese tots. Somehow they talked me into adding a double cheeseburger so I got the “tots free”. It was completely tasteless and the only thing that gave it flavor was the mustard and ketchup. At least Burger King flame broils its burgers so they have some taste.
Here is the list I feel are the best and the worst. Shake Shack no doubt has a really great quality burger, its almost a shame to put them in the same category as the others. I hear In & Out are not necessarily better but different. I have not had the opportunity to travel out west where those chains are.
- Shake Shack
- Five Guys
- White Castle (its a guilty pleasure from childhood and have great retro appeal)
- Roy Rogers
- Burger King
