Fairway “Like No Other” Market really deserves this self-proclaimed title. If you cannot find any particular kind of food in this supermarket, you are looking for something rare which can only be found in an area that is ultra-ethnic.
I visited the Fairway on Rt. 46 West in Little Falls NJ. If you don’t come to this store for anything but the cheese, you can easily spend quite awhile. As you can see this section is 4 to 5 times the size of most cheese sections and there is another one just around the bend.
In fact, all their food and specialty sections dwarf the competing supermarkets in the area. When you walk in, you see a section of produce which is larger than most small town supermarkets.
I’ve never see this many different variety of coffees and teas even in a coffee store.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. I often wonder about people stocking the shelves at a supermarket who cannot be bothered to answer a question and think you are an interruption of their work rather than the reason they actually have work themselves.
While the hot food section is not that large, there is a comfortable, clean area to sit down and eat. Unlike a lot of supermarkets, you do not have to go to the front of the store to pay for your food and check out just to eat the food you got while its still hot. They have special cashiers right in the dining section.
Many people know I am a water nut. I love water from all over the world
and even make my ice for cocktails and drinks from only the best spring water I can find. I was thrilled to find 3 different types of water from Iceland, its some of dozens here.
To cover all that is going on in this particular supermarket would take pages, several entries and probably a lot more than you care to read. Bottom line is that this place has fair prices, great food, quality products and variety that you have to see to believe.
This is not just a place to shop for food, it is a place for foodies.
And yes, there is a very large liquor store attached which has an extensive selection of beer, wines and spirits, and all at very reasonable prices. I checked out the whiskey section and was pleased to see the prices at or below average retail. No secondary market price gouging that I can see.
