Clove Syrup is ideal as a secret ingredient to your Tiki and Polynesian drinks as a sweetener, but it is great in hot tea of any kind, but also Hot Rum Toddy, hot apple cider, even with cocktails that call for Applejack, calvados, or apple brandy.
CLOVE SYRUP RECIPE
- 150ml (5 ounces) Demerara Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon Cloves
- 150ml (5 ounces) boiling spring water
Bring fresh cold spring water up to a boil. Add in cloves and sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Allow to sit 20-30 minutes, transfer to a bottle you can easily pour from. Add 5ml or teaspoon of high proof spirits such as vodka or rum if you plan to store it for more than a month in the fridge.
